What was intended to be a peaceful protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention turned into a violent clash with police and the National Guard. The organizers of the protest—including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale—were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot and the trial that followed was one of the most notorious in history.
The film stars Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron-Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mark Rylance and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Written and directed by Oscar winner Aaron Sorkin. The film is already being eyed as an Oscar contender in different categories which, many are predicting that, along with David Fincher’s Mank, will be Netflix‘s best chance to secure the Best Picture win.
It is expected to have limited theatrical release in September and will be available to stream on Netflix starting October 16, 2020.
